Mini IVF or mini in vitro fertilization treatment is based on the logic of developing fewer but higher quality eggs by using lower doses of medication. After these developed eggs are collected, fertilization is achieved by applying the microinjection technique.
Embryos formed after fertilization are transferred to the patient, considering that they are more likely to adhere. In fact, what is different in the treatment is the egg development method.
However, this treatment, like drug-free in vitro fertilization treatment, can be preferred in women who cannot obtain many eggs and do not develop quality embryos despite the use of high doses of medication. The success rates of mini-IVF treatment are no less than other classical treatments, especially in women of advanced age and with decreasing ovarian reserve. If very high doses of medication are used in these patients, egg quality generally decreases. The logic of mini in vitro fertilization treatment is to develop the eggs with the patient's own hormones and low-dose medications.
Even if the FSH hormone is increased, if you have a normal menstrual period, you have a chance to get pregnant with mini-IVF.
In the treatment, clomiphene or letrozole drugs are generally used on the 3rd day of the menstrual period, like other classical treatments, and the body's own FSH hormone is expected to rise and the eggs to begin to be stimulated. After approximately 4-5 days of treatment, the eggs usually reach 10 mm and larger sizes. The treatment is continued with FSH v/or Lh hormone without interruption. After approximately 2-4 days of treatment, the eggs become ready to be collected.
Another important advantage of mini-IVF treatment is its low cost. Because of the use of high doses of medication in in vitro fertilization treatment, a serious cost occurs in addition to the cost of in vitro fertilization. With the use of low doses of medication, total treatment costs can be reduced by 30-40%.
